A Glimpse of our History & Our Future
No Shoes - No Limits
Just 5 years ago, faith-filled men and women decided to follow God's voice for their lives. With nothing but a calling and hope for that call, Pastors Mark & Katrina and 12 adults met in a borrowed storefront business of a friend. It was a Karate School. It was the only place available to house this new idea for ministry and fellowship. No shoes could be worn on the mats, and so off they came. It made sense - they were standing on holy ground. The ground floor of a church that would change lives, restore families and bring hope to people everywhere. No limits were placed on where they could go. It wasn't about religious affiliations or the approval of man - it was about what God was calling for in a city and a region.
Less than a year later, the budding congregation bubbled to over 150 people - meeting at a refurbished architectural firm, and the power of change began to attract people from all walks of life. Young and old, rich and poor, Black, Hispanic & White - a church of the nations began to take shape.
It was during the 2nd year of ministry
that Family & Faith experienced it's first wave of numerical growth. Only
able to seat 300 people, the auditorium was packed with nearly 400 members
and guests - week to week. People were sitting on the stage, out in the lobby,
peeking through windows - all to be a part of this new church and a fresh
outpour for life-change. A sense of awe was in the air and lives were changing.
Unchurched people and individuals you grew up with in church came from far
and near, to see what all the fuss was about. And it was clear that what was
happening was no joke or no fad - it was God in the midst of a people.
The
7 day miracle
This new church could no longer meet in the cramped
facility. It was too crowded, and becoming a safety hazard. After prayer and
consulting with the leadership base, Pastor Mark decided to move the Sunday
morning service to a larger location.
The Bardwell School auditorium was selected, and a great amount of preparation
work began, as we looked to be able to hold overflow crowds. The last service
in the smaller church was held on Sunday, January 26, 2003. On Sunday, February
2, 2003 - in just 7 days - with no advertisement, much prayer and the favor
of God - more than 700 people attended the first service in the new location!
Building Community
March 20, 2005 was our last Sunday at Bardwell School, and so we celebrate God's favor! On Easter Sunday March 27, 2005 we walked into our new facility (Phase I) @ 250 East Indian Trail Road. For two (2) years we've climbed steps, sat in the heat and seen God do great things. Yet in it all we are sober, for we know that if God had not done it - it would not have been done.
Today - the power of God continues to be in our midst. Lives are changing every week. The ministry of Family & Faith extends beyond our weekend and weeknight services. Growth is exploding, families are reconnecting, seekers are believing and believers are more devoted to Christ than ever before.
We will not stop now. We'll not even slow down. The fight has barely begun and the best is yet to come. Family & Faith Christian Church is called to reach seekers and building believers - turning them into fully devoted followers of Christ.
Get ready for the revolution. Plan for the harvest, and make room for the increase. Our best days and our blessed days are soon to come.
